At 8.3% ABV, this is a whiskey drinker’s beer as its delicate notes rise and fall with each sip. The big smoked malt backbone allows for caramel and fig nuances to blend with the oak and vanilla character imparted by four months aging in Stonecutter Spirits heritage cask whiskey barrels.

High alcohol, barrel-aged version of their more regularly available Blackstrap Ale. Rich, boozy, smoked brown. Perfect evening sipper for the whiskey/scotch fans. Love the flip-top bottle.

From the 650 ml. bottle stamped 18152, If that is the 152nd day of the year that would it at about June 1, 2018. Sampled on January 8, 2019.
Handsome looking, slightly foggy amber brown pour with a modest cream colored head that fades but laces as it does so.
The smoked cheddar cheese like character is front and center in the aroma following diligently by the sweet, caramel presence and raisins. Like ashes from a bonfire.
The mouthfeel is medium or a little better but smooth.
The smoky character continues to penetrate the flavor as much as it did the senses with a sweet roasted malt taste and a kind of ,light fruit or vague citrus finale. A really nice representation of the style and I love this style.
