Driftwood bonfires on the beach and fresh seafood only need friends and beer to make the perfect party. New England oysters delivered fresh from the boat by Wood Mountain Fish turn this Irish-style stout into a celebration of smoke on the sea. Our Smoked Oyster Stout weighs in at a whopping 76% on the Smoke-Ometer ™, but the oysters and roasted barley tame the intensity turning this beer into a refreshing dry stout.

Poured into a glass mug.
The appearance had a super thick, maybe about three fingers worth of eggshell white foamy head, so impressive to see such a lush looking rocky head ever so slowly dissipating. The body was black in the glass but had more of an amber/brown sort of pour. Sliding lace ran with the sips.
The aroma was absolutely pure joy as masterful levels of bacon, sweet ham, dark chocolate, dark bread/toast, tons of smoke, hickory, wood chips and some briney/salty seashell-like chips.
The flavor seemed to bring in that briney/salty seashell-like character a bit further towards the front to blend with dark chocolate, milk chocolate, sweet leather, bacon and oak chips. Semi-quick aftertaste wrapping up with cocoa nibs, salty/briney/seashell, light touch of molasses and some smoke.
The mouthfeel took it's medium body to allow a fair sipping quality become the hinge to which supported a good carbonation. Briney character doesn't impart any harshness as I was expecting. Touch of stickiness. Subtle grip of briney/saltiness in the finish with some cocoa powder, dark toast and sweet leather.
Overall, what an absolutely amazing smoked oyster stout. After having lived in Juneau, AK and being able to gulp renditions of Alaskan Smoked Porter every season, though this is an oyster stout, well, yes, such wonderful similarities yet still individually nuanced enough to absolutely want to have this again.

From the bottle, it pours a Very dark color that does allow a little light through on the bottom - reddish brown with a large light brown head that lasts and lasts. In the nose, it is smoky. In the mouth, it is also smoky overlaying the malt base. Prost!
