despite it having the same abv, this presents itself as a different base beer than they hefe they do with coconut, although i could easily be wrong, this version is with tangerine, and its nowhere near as impressive, but it wasnt the base beer that stoked me up about that one either, so i dont know. this is citrus forward, but weighty for what it is, way too close to still for the style, and lacking the uniqueness that made the other one so special. the tangerine is natural here though and thats important, some bitterness from it is nicer with the fuller wheat body, and if it was more bubbly and a bit drier, itd be a nice summer quencher, but it sags where i want it to pick up the most. the nose is minimal compared to the flavor, the yeast seems a little weirdly developed, estery but strange, maybe too warm or underpitched and stressed or something, not a strong flavor to it, but its unlike other hefe types to me, at least in this context. i really dig the low alcohol and the fruiting part of this, but the base beer itself is in need of some sprucing up. fine as a last drink after a big day, but its nowhere near its full potential unfortunately...
