Was at Hot Belly Mama's and went next door to the Olde Stone for beer and dessert. Had a hazelnut cream tart and their newest offering, an oatmeal old ale. Loving oatmeal stouts, I had to give this a try. Colour was a dark ruby red. Not quite black, but close. Very little head to speak of, though that might have been the cause of an improper pour. Smelled of sweet malts, oatmeal and vanilla. Little if any bitterness at all. Tasted, oh so good. A perfect sweetness without it being overpowering or sugary. Smooth oatmeal and barley malts, hint of vanilla and some dark cherries. No bitterness at all, even in the aftertaste. Me, I like bitterness, but this beer seems perfectly fine without it. Mouthfeel was a bit thin, considering the flavour. A tad watery, but not disappointing. Does make it easier to drink, though I would have preferred something thicker. Drinkable? Absolutely! Would make a great session beer; easy to drink without giving up any flavour. I like it.
