Clear golden pour with a big, white head. The aroma is dominated by grain and malt. The flavor is moderately sweet and malty, lifted by a light hoppy bitterness. Overall, a solid, straightforward lager.

Umanpivo "Mykhola (Микола) Draft 1878"
500 ml brown glass bottle, coded "LOT2260" and sampled on 05/03/2026
$4.49 @ Total Wine & More, Claymont, DE
Notes via stream of consciousness: Its deep golden body has a fingerprint-through-the glass clarity beneath a finger's width of bright white foam. Unfortunately it doesn't look like the head is going to stick around for too long despite the fact that there are a whole lot of very tiny bubbles rising steadily within. In the nose I'm getting a sweetish and grainy malt base and some minor floral, grassy, and herbal hops. You've got to swirl the glass a bit to find them but the hops are there. There's also some nuttiness to it which I'm guessing is coming from some kilned malts and perhaps even a light hint of diacetyl. On to the taste, there's some sweetness to it, and the malt remains interestingly caramelish, honey-like, and subtly nutty - it's cake-like in its sweetness. It's not very bitter at all, and the hops are limited as well but there are some grassy and lightly floral notes. It's sweetish in the finish, and it seems like it would build on the palate if you drank a lot of it, but hey, to each his own - I like it but I think one 500 ml bottle is probably my limit. In the mouth it's medium bodied and dextrinous, and the carbonation is moderate to median and very fine-bubbled. A little crispness from a higher level of C02 might be nice but I'm sure this is exactly the way it's intended to be, and exactly the way that most people like it. Back to the appearance, the head did drop, and it didn't leave much lacing, although I was impressed with the clarity. It's an interesting beer that's worth trying.

From a 500 ml. bottle marked Lot 2060. Sampled April 15, 2026.
The appearance is olive-yellow with a lingering white head.
The aroma emits a bready and honey character and perhaps a vague earthy sensation.
The mouthfeel is medium.
The taste is honey sweet, I mean, yeah. Honey. A kind of pastry note too.

super instresting !!! nose is grain/malts & noble hop (standard euro lager fare); doesn’t betray the palette profile. the moment it meets ur mouth the malts melt into a more caramel character accompanied by coriander (???). can’t say I’ve had a beer like this before

From the half liter bottle, it pours a slightly hazy golden color with a modest white head that reduces to a thin layer. The nose gets a slightly spicy lightly sweet scent. The mouth gets a slight zing of yeast along with a pleasant bit of bready malt.
