Schwarzbier, or black beer, is a dark lager that originated in the Turingia area of Germany. As it should, ours has an opaque, black color with light roast flavors just like what would get in Germany.

Appearance: Dark brown, thick mousse-like tan head with excellent retention.
Aroma: Dark roasted malt
Flavor: Roasted malt, low spicy hops, low to moderate bitterness. Low sweetness.
Mouthfeel: Medium bodied, soft & smooth. Moderate length finish with low bitterness trailing.
Overall: Excellent example of Schwarzbier. Pours to a beautiful, tan mousse-like head that holds. Well balanced elements of a smooth, silky mouthfeel; roasted malt and spicy hops; low bitterness; and drying finish. No burnt flavors and no harshness. Clean fermentation profile. Not much to be picky about! Very well executed beer. Don't drink too cold.

Picked up a 16 oz single from the Appalachian Vintner in Asheville 8-2-25 for $5.22. No canning date; consumed 10-19-25. Cold stored since purchase.
Beer poured dark brown with a nice beige head.
Nose has notes of roasted malts and chocolate.
Taste is a medium roasted malt base that originally game me coffee but now getting more chocolate as the brew warms up. Hopping is spot on to balance nicely.
Mouthfeel is soft and very smooth making each sip pleasurable.
Overall, another nicely done lager from Guidon!
