“Doppel” meaning “double” in German, is a style that is a bigger and stronger version of the lower alcohol German-style bock beers. Originally made by monks in Munich, the doppelbock beer style is very food-friendly and rich in melanoidins reminiscent of toasted bread. Color is dark brown. Ours contains a generous amount of Munich and Dark Munich malts. Malty sweetness is dominant but is not overly sweet. Malt character is more reminiscent of fresh and lightly toasted dark bread, more so than caramel or toffee. Dark fruit flavors such as prune and raisin are present. Doppelbocks are full-bodied, and alcoholic strength is on the higher end.
