Pours a cloudy, deep, dark ruby red coloration with a small, creamy head. Smells of bready, grainy malt and just a hint of red berries. Taste is dominated by the slightly sweet, bready, grainy and lightly caramelly malts, with some red berries: redcurrant, strawberry and lighter, undefinable citrus hops coming through and just a hint of herbal grassiness as well. Finishes with a light/medium bitterness and some sweet malts and red berries lingering in the aftertaste. Smooth, velvety mouthfeel with a medium body and carbonation.
Quite a decent Irish Red Ale with a good balance of malt layers, red berries and some lighter, citrus, herbal hops to balance things out. Rather nice, velvety mouthfeel as well.
