On tap at Bravo

The next stop on the RI brewery journey: Bravo. They seem to have a pretty classic selection of beer styles, and I’m very happy to see a Hefeweizen on tap. Let’s see how this little brewery does with this style

Pours a cloudy deep gold with 2 fingers of creamy off white head that slowly fades a thin cap and leaves decent lacing

The nose is quite vibrant here, lots of sweet banana but also a bright hoppiness. I’m picking up on aromas of banana, sweet honey, bready malt, toasted grain, floral hops, light orange zest, and toast

It doesn’t have the same bite in taste but it’s still quite nice. On the front end of the sip I’m tasting sweet banana, bready malt, lemon zest, sweet honey, and light toasted grain. The swallow brings notes of banana bread, honey, toasted nuts, bready malt, floral hops, light orange zest, and toasted grain

A medium body pairs with gentle carbonation, resulting in a creamy beer. Finishes neutral and rather sweet

Well it’s not the greatest execution of the style, but it’s still rather enjoyable

A stern pour from a 16-oz. can into a 20-oz. mug yielded a finger of soapy white foam with above average retention and irregular spots of lacing. Very cloudy straw color, I can barely see my finger through it.

Banana, clove, toasted wheat bread and Wheat Thins greet the nose. There's a faint lemon smell and faint floral hops.

The taste is semi-dry with moderate bitterness, wheaty malt is bold and in control. The clove is now more of a general baking spice taste, a light and un-sweetened juiciness (apple and citrus featuring lemon) tries to make it sweet.
Bitterness builds to above average as it dries a bit at the quick and clean finish. Spicy bitterness lingers a while.

Medium-light bodied and well carbonated, smooth and very balanced. I hint of yeast is noticeable, alcohol is well hidden.
A brewery fresh Hefe, traditional and true to style.
