Comes in a standard brown half liter bottle with a fairly busy label featuring a fat and happy guy ("Tolstyak" means "chubby guy") holding a beer mug. The caption reads "Beer for friends", while the label is rimmed by the following: "In the company of friends, with a few mugs of beer, and a good mood is guaranteed." Rice is listed as an ingredient. Bottled on the Fourth of July, I opened it 8/5/03.
It poured a deep clear gold under a solid white head that left quickly but produced some nice lace. The nose is a bit soda sweet, with malt and metal tones. The mouth is very prickly and fairly light. The initial taste is malty and flowery sweet - like a carnation. This impression is followed by a somewhat harsh, metallic bitter. The aftertaste was a more mild, pleasant hoppy bitter. At least I didn't pour it down the drain.
