On tap at Tap and Mallet in Rochester, NY.
This one pours a pretty dark black, with a small white head and a lot of lacing.
Smells like smoke, charred and roasted malt, slight fruitiness, and a good dose of piney hops.
It's a fact that not enough breweries work the Schwarzbier game. Luckily, IA has nailed the style for me here. It's possibly hoppier than the traditional style dictates, as there's a solid fruity hop flavor, followed by a piney bitterness. There's definitely some lightly yeasty fruitiness too, with wonderful smoke and roasted malt.
This is super drinkable. It has a good level of carbonation, with a very crisp mouthfeel.
This is a very good rendition of a sadly forgotten style.

Most impressive beer I've had from Industrial Arts yet. Very rich and roasty dark malt flavors but enough hop flavor and spice to reflect the idea behind a schwarzbier. Really the best of both worlds. Very tasty.
