9/13 canning.
Darkest brown pour has a couple fingers of light tan foam momentarily. A lasting skim hangs on for the ride.
Med. strength aroma, featuring light herbal and piney hops joining forces with malty chocolate, dark toast, some righteous oily coffee notes. As it warms the bouquet gets a rich bready character.
Full strength taste. All the flavors of the nose, sharp roasty notes, the coffee tastes like espresso, the chocolate is a very dark tasting one. Wrap it all in a developing dark bread character with lightest molasses sweet, and make the sharper notes shine through and be delicious. End the sip dry, with both bitter hop and sharp roast contributing equally, and you have a delicious beer.
Full bodied, incredibly soft moutfeel that keeps it light into an intense, just carb.'ed enough without carbonic bite, resinous, lasting, almost clean and smoky finish that begs for another sip.
Ain't a schwarzbier, A delicious masterpiece is what it is. Highly recommended.

Canned 9/13/2017. Poured into Industrial Arts pint glass. It pours pitch black with an enormous, fluffy, khaki-colored head and beautiful lacing. The head lasted really long. It's a lovely pour. The nose features both burnt and fresh coffee, cocoa, and roasted malt. When sipped, the first thing I taste is the coffee - primarily burnt but there is some freshly brewed coffee, as well. I'm also tasting roasted malt, baker's chocolate, and nuts. It's really pleasant and improved as the glass warmed. For a Schwartzbier it's practically chewy. The feel is more like a fine porter or a stout. The carbonation is moderate and the 7.6% ABV is deceptive. This one will sneak up on you. Overall, I have to say I was surprised by the relatively low BA rating. This is a fine Schwartzbier: flavorful and with a great feel. I don't mind if I'm an outlier on the high end. Dark Hammer is very good!

Pours a black coffee color with two-plus fingers of lasting, dark tan head. Heavy, webbed lacing.
Big aroma of roasted dark malts and rich dark chocolate. This continues to the taste, where the chocolate really pops. Hints of espresso, too. Quite dark all around, even for the style, with a roasty -- just short of nutty -- bittersweet aftertaste.
Thick bodied with a creamy feel and decent carbonation.
This is a real treat. It's like a schwarzbier meets a chocolatey RIS. Delicious. 9/13/17 canned on date.

Tall can, w/o canning date info
Pours dark and stout like, dark khaki cap
Chocolate and coffee grounds on the nose
More dark fudge chocolate on the palate
Sort of a light bodied stout...tasty, and loaded with chocolate and chocolate notes but still likely one try and done for me on this one
