A tart, bright beer that we soured over a weekend and then added Riesling grape juice before fermentation. It’s dry and refreshing but has nice subtle notes of minerality and fruit. A bit of a departure for us, but we’re excited about making more beers in this vein in the future!

Industrial Arts Brewing Co. "Corkscrew"
16 fl. oz. can, "PKG ON: 08/16/18" and sampled on 09/18/18
$4.99 @ DeCicco & Sons, Brewster, NY
Notes via stream of consciousness: Ahhh, a sour beer "co-fermented", whatever that means, with Riesling grape juice - that sounds interesting! It's poured a somewhat hazy yellow-gold body beneath a finger-thick head of bright white that's already dropped but has maintained a thin but solid surface covering. Lack of head retention and lacing is common with sour beers so I was expecting it, and to be honest I'm surprised it's kept the full surface covering. In the nose the Riesling grapes are clear. It's sweetish and earthy. The flavor brings in some tartness for sure but it's not puckering, and the sweetness is still there, as is the grape flavor. Of course that's it, there's not a lot of depth to it, but it's quite nice. It's hardly bitter but the acidity makes up for it, and it finishes dry and wine-like with a little bit of mineral left behind. I don't usually find sour beers to be very repeatably drinkable but I think I could drink a few of these in a row, So what's left, mouthfeel? It's moderately carbonated so as not to amplify the bite of the acidity, and medium-light to light-medium in body. It's gently crisp and then smooth and that helps it out across the board. Very nice.

A: The beer is crystal clear yellow in color and has a light amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a quarter finger high white head that quickly died down, leaving lots of wispy lacing on the surface and a narrow collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Light to moderate aromas of Riesling grapes are present in the nose.
T: The taste follows the smell and has Riesling-like flavors (without the alcohol and dryness) and a light amount of sourness.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation. There are hints of tartness on the mouthfeel.
O: This is a pleasant beer to drink if you like flavors of Riesling grapes

16oz. can into Night Shift stemware. Shared by schen9303.
Nose is Welch's white grape juice, white wine and sulfur. Maybe needs a little cleaning up. Beer opens dry and lightly tart. Hints of lemon, tart white grape, foam and a light, sweet grape juice. An accented pucker towards the finish but it doesn't last. Clean, frothy finish. and Body is light with ample carbonation. Crisp and prickly on the palate. Quenching, tart on the way down with a clean finish. Supremely drinkable.
A very enjoyable Summer session beer based on the drinkability and feel alone. This one's worth stocking up on a trip to the beach or boat!
