Very dark brown body with black tinting, mushroom colored head. Very smoky in smell and taste. In the nose get tobacco, earth, char and leather accompanying. In the taste there is some light meatiness to the smoke, bitter chocolate malts added as backbone. Surprisingly full bodied yet finishes way too thin, chewy. Has too many little flaws to really recommend but its drinkable

Poured from a can, dated 11/18/20. My first review of Industrial Arts beer - surely I've had some others a few years ago but I didn't note it.

Looks deep mahogany brown, with a light tan head. Persistent foam and spotty lacing.
Smells of dark roast and black malt, a bit woody, earthy.
Taste follows with lots of char roast, piney and spicy hops, dark coffee.
Feels light, a bit thinner than expected. Smooth and surprisingly low bitterness given how much black-roast and hop flavors there are.

Overall a very tasty dark beer. Not sure it's the right character for a Baltic porter, but a tasty beer nonetheless.

16 oz can, packaged on 11/18/2020.

Very dark brown, borderline black. Big chocolatey aroma with notes of coffee, roasted malt, and earthy hops rounding it out. Smooth, chocolate malt flavor. A hint of dark fruit. Medium bodied with little sign of its 7.2% ABV.

A solid entry into the amazing Landscape Series. My love for these seasonal beers grows more and more over time. Keep 'em coming!

Pours a large foamy almost tan 2 finger head with great retention and messy lacing, clear ruby auburn color

Nose brings spicy piney citrusy hops, with some roast and cocoa, smells like an American black ipa

Taste brings a bit of roasted and chocolate malts, light on the malt, then big hops, citrus and pine, little spicy late, med bitterness then big bitterness on the finish

Mouth is med to lighter bod, med creamy carb

Overall no, this is not a Baltic porter, this is an American black ale, black ipa, whatever you want to call it. Not nearly enough malt or body for a Baltic porter, hops are out of style, not enjoyable since I don't like this style

Pours a clear dark brown/mahogany color. A large creamy head retains well and yields lots of lacing.

Enticing aromas of dark toasted, nutty and roasted malts. Notes of dark chocolate and coffee. Aromas of dark fruit, woodsy and earthy hops.

Moderately sweet and rich flavors of dark toasted malts, dark chocolate, jammy dark fruit, biscuit and nutty malts. Coffee like flavors of roasted malts pair well with earthy and woodsy hops, each imparting a balancing bitterness that develops throughout. Despite the complexity of flavors, it has that clean lager like taste. The finish is roasty and dry.

Full bodied, smooth and mouth coating. Yet there is also a clean lager crispness that makes it so easy to drink. The carbonation is moderate.

Great example of the Baltic Porter style and one of the better dark lagers I’ve had in recent memory. Delicious and a joy to drink on this winter day.

Canned on 11/18/2020. Poured into a nonic pint glass. It pours a clear, deep cola color with a large, frothy, light khaki-colored head and lacing. The fragrant nose offers roasted malt, chocolate, coffee, leather, and tobacco smoke. Wow, what a nice example of the style! The taste opens with bitter, earthy char and tobacco ash. To the extent I can taste the chocolate it's bitter baker's chocolate. As it warms there are hints of burnt coffee grounds, peat, and charred nuts. As it warms in the glass there is a faint hint of cola. To me, this is how a Baltic Porter should taste. It's moderate in body and carbonation and the 7.2% ABV gives it good substance. Overall, this is outstanding! Industrial Arts' Landscape series is a seasonal lager. The last couple of Winter offerings have been very good Schwarzbiers. I've been hoping IA would brew a Baltic Porter and this one is worth seeking out.
