Packaged November 15th 2024.
Pours a dark brown/mahogany with an inch of off white foam. Excellent lacing and retention.
Smells really roasty, grainy, bit of chocolate, light sweetness.
Taste is roasted malt, grainy, dark chocolate, some mild sweetness and mild bitterness. A rather unique flavour profile that I am not 100% with.
Good mouthfeel.
This is a good stab at a Black Lager.

2024 version, presume a close enough variant to rate rather than add. Roasty and smooth shwartzbier, worth trying. Intense as warms. Lace. Very nice. Draft at Sea Witch.

16 oz can. Pours brown with tall, long-lasting, foamy, off-white head and lovely carbonation. Aroma is of toasted malt and grassy hops. Body is medium and slightly crisp. Taste of toasted malt, toffee and grassy hops. Finish is long and dry. Nice brew.

On tap at Industrial Arts in Beacon, NY.
This one pours a fairly dark black color, with a small head, and lots of lacing.
This smells wonderfully spicy, piney, and chocolatey, with lots of roast too.
This is a pretty great dark lager, with a nice spicy and piney hop character that really evokes a wintery feel. There’s roast, and a pleasantly chocolatey sweetness on the back end that balances everything out pretty nicely.
This is creamy, and super drinkable, with a nice smooth finish.
I really enjoyed this one - had shades of some traditional dark lager notes with an American twist.

Three finger, beige head poured from the can. Long and wide streaks as it recedes. The color is dark brown where only a minimal amount of light passes along the edge.
Darker brown bread aroma with a touch of chalkingess. Clean smell with a hint of cocoa.
The malt character is subdued with the brown bread fading quickly. The body leans thin with an average carbonation level--about right for a lager. There is, however, a significant hop presence that wasn't perceived in the smell. This makes the beer seem closer to Baker's chocolate in the swallow and leaves a decent length aftertaste.

DATE: January 7, 2023... OCCASION: catching up with Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull with a beer from the holiday haul... GLASSWARE: pilsner... predictably dark black body with an oatmeal-beige, quarter-finger head that thickens across the surface... a porter-like aroma of coffee bean, lactose, and toasted bread malts make for a light yet alluring introduction, its sugars suggest licorice, chocolate, and toffee--sweet and pleasant... creamy, smooth, and highly drinkable... buttery up front and brief and fizzy at its end, it presents a cola-like texture.... the chocolate, licorice and toasted bread make this an enjoyable profile that doesn't deviate much from the style's expectations--and nothing wrong with that! Great label design from the IA art department.... short and sweet: it's short and sweet!

Pours a dark brown color with copper edges and a finger of beige head. The nose has mild roasted notes. The flavor profile follows the nose in that the classic flavors of the style are present but muted.
