Utilizing freshly harvested Anchovy hops from Segal Ranch, this hazy IPA builds loads of berry and citrus aromas onto a plush but clean-finishing malt bill of barley, oats, and spelt.

16oz can purchased from the fridge as a single for $4.45. PKG: 10/02/23, so this beer is about 2 1/2 months old.

Look: It's kind of hazy. I would call it translucent with an orangish/yellowish hue. There was a rocky off-white head that simmered down to a ring around the glass. After pouring the rest of the can, the beer became a bit hazier and hovers on the cusp of translucence.

Smell: It has a strong citrusy aroma. There's a bit of pungency that is not off-putting. Initially, I got that chalky, chewable vitamin note, but I think that it blew off for the most part. I also get a bit of pepperiness and some herbal notes. I get an interesting minty note; kind of reminds me of a Tic Tac when combined with the orangy citrus notes.

Taste: This is quite good. It's different from what I was expecting and I am pleasantly surprised. From the appearance, I was expecting this to be "another hazy IPA." However, it has a nice bitter presence, a bit of juiciness, and a clean finish so it is not like your standard, run-of-the mill hazy IPA. The finish is mild to moderately bitter with a finish that does not linger long. The beer is tasty, enjoyable, and very easy to drink. It has a lot of orange notes, including orange juiciness and bitter orange peel. There's also a woodiness and relatively light pine and resin notes compared to what you get with West Coast IPAs.

Feel: This beer is on the lighter side of medium bodied. It is nicely carbonated with just a touch of creaminess. Overall, the beer finishes relatively clean - somewhere in between a West Coast IPA and a hazy IPA.

Overall: This is interesting. I am always up for trying wet hop harvest beers if I can find them relatively fresh. This is the first time that I have seen this beer and it's also my first exposure to Anchovy hops (interesting name for sure). This is different in that it's not West Coast or New England style, it's somewhere in between. I definitely enjoyed it.

Can purchased at Fattey Beer Company in Rochester, NY.

This one pours a fairly hazy golden orange color, with a small head, and lots of lacing.

This smells pretty spicy and earthy in a good way, with orange, melon, and marijuana.

The glowing haziness promises a juice bomb explosion, but we didn’t really get that here. We get something infinitely more interesting – there’s some spicy and almost tea-like bitterness, with marijuana like dankness. There is some great juiciness here too, with juicy pineapple, melon, and orange peel.

This is light bodied, creamy, and pretty crisp, with a great drinkability.

This was extremely enjoyable. I enjoy the great balance of juiciness and earthy, spicy, bitterness.
