Had on tap. Congrats to MC, I have come to enjoy their work more and more. That being said, the barrel here is not a friend, it is way too powerful in both booze and wood for this underlying delicate english brown. Smell and especially taste the obliteration of the nutty and caramel malt, dry english yeast and earth! You can feel the heat plenty too, but not as out of whack. Orangey brown body with a tan head and thick lacing is nice though! Can't win them all

Served in a Lagunitas mason jar from an aluminum growler filled at Beer on the Wall - Arlington Heights.
Pours a deep midnight umber topped by a finger of dirty khaki foam. The nose comprises bourbon, light vanilla extract, buttery biscuit, light toffee, wood, and a hint of pine needles. The taste brings in more of the same, the barrels crowding out just about everything else, and that barrel ain't exactly subtle, but rather slightly rough. The body is a light medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a mostly smooth feel. I think the barrel was a bit much for what seems like an unassuming base, but it's not a chore to get through. I dunno, maybe a bit of fine-tuning'd do wonders.
