Hoquiam Brewing Company

I visited Hoquiam Brewing a couple weeks ago while I was in town to see a buddy's band play. I stopped in and got some dinner and pre-show beverages. When I visited, there were 11 beers on tap plus a guest cider. Some traditional as well as unconventional styles were represented among those: smoked dunkelweizen, key lime cream ale, Irish red, milk stout, lemongrass ginger saison, altbier, session pale, and several IPAs. The quality was a bit hit-and-miss for me, though: I enjoyed one of the hazy IPAs but the dunkelweizen was definitely a miss. Others I tried were merely okay.

The taproom itself is quite neat with an industrial but polished and welcoming vibe; the brewhouse and fermenters are in full view, which I love. Pictures and tools mounted on the wall nod to the city's historic lumber industry. There are some timbers in the rafters here that are probably simply impossible to get nowadays, they are so huge.

They have a decent pizza and pub grub menu. I had fish and chips, which while not stellar certainly got the job done. Service was friendly although not particularly speedy on my visit.
