Triple Dry Hopped IPA. Brewed in collaboration with Kansas City's BKS Artisan Ales. We used a thick base of pilsner malt, flaked oats and white wheat. After we sucked on the juice, we hopped this 'Wombat' with an eclectic blend of Citra Incognito, Nelson, & Waimea. A splash of Madagascar vanilla beans and mango juice lends itself to a tropical, marsupial experience. Think Naked Smoothie, extreme humidity and, you know, Abe Vigoda.

Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a hazy milky orange with a two finger white head that dissipated to a thick film with solid lacing. Aroma of pilsner malt, citrus and tropical fruit hops, orange, mixed over-ripe tropical fruit and distinct 420 herbal notes. Flavor is pale malt, citrus and tropical fruit hops, orange, banana, mixed tropical fruit, pine and a hint of catty dankness. Moderate, but satisfactory citrus rind bitterness in the finish. Medium bodied with moderate creaminess. Well, I've been trying to find a Knotted Root brew for a while and decided this New England hazy might be satisfactory, and what do you know, it has enough bitterness that I actually like it. I try to get a style I'm fond of as my first introduction to a new brewery and this style is a gamble for me. As with a lot of IPAs of this style, I found the herbal hop flavors somewhat muted, but it was an interesting profile that suited my palate and there was just enough finishing bitterness to suit me. I'm not detecting mango juice specifically, but lots of tropical character; not tasting much vanilla. Nice mouth feel. A NE IPA that I actually like. That's a winner.
