Triple dry-hopped Double IPA using Citra under three different declines paired with North Park's Freestyle Hops' Nelson Sauvin as well as Riwaka. We're entitled to a literal Nelson Sauvin explosion supported by the Citra and the Riwaka. Lovers of New Zealand hops and Citra will definitely find their way.

Pours a thick, chalky-cloudy gold color with soap lather-like head that appears and disappears in a wholly unappealing fashion. Both the aroma and flavor are... Interesting. Spicy, woody, stanky, BO-y, grassy-ish, vaguely citrus. The flavor might be a little worse off than the nose, with some warning hop/alcohol burn. The best part is the rotten mango that blooms when I try a retronasal. I don't know what is wrong with it (I suspect the super-special-super-secret stash they were so lucky to use). One of these days I'm gonna be struck blind from rolling my eyes too hard at Messorem. Bad beer overall.
What's really weird with this one is that I had a can at 1 day old and even though it was so hop-burny that it was like eating hot sauce, it was distinctly promising I thought. This can has definitely mellowed and come into itself, but in all the wrong ways.

From a 16oz can, dated 08/04/23. Served in a spiegelau IPA glass.
Pours a milky-opaque, pale orange juice-colour with a scant finger of cream-coloured head. Retention is unremarkable, leaving a sudsy collar and a barely rousable sheet of slippery lacing.
Nose is all rindy citrus. Aroma of bitter orange.
Taste is… unexpected. Reminiscent of some sort of wine cooler made mixing orange and grapefruit juice with cheap white wine.
Feel is light and juicy and vigorously carbonated. Prickly hoppy sensation. Acidic smoulder in the gullet.
Overall, well, it was an abomination… a waste of good (presumably) Citra. OK, let’s be fair; I don’t like nelson sauvin, I didn’t read the label, and I was unpleasantly surprised. I’m usually OK with nelson when it’s blended with other hops but IMO the cheap white wine character was overwhelming here.
