The barkeeper (at the brewery) described it as a dark beer with a hint of smoke. When asked, he claimed no smoked malt or liquid was added to the batch.

Near black in color where no light passes. The beige head sticks around providing plenty of wider streaks on the glass.
The smell is of spent ash and burnt malt. Similar to the driest of stouts.
The taste is similar to a dry stout -- lots of black patent malt. Very high carbonation which is more notable from the thin body. Easy to drink but with a big flavor profile.
