On tap at Dock Street on 9/13/08. Brewed for their 1st Anniversary at the new West Philly site. Billed as an "Imperial Amber Ale".
A - Deep burnt orange body, almost pumpkin colored, with thin light beige head that receded into a patchy film of retention but left some thick lacing. Minimal slow-rising carbonation bubbles.
S - Nice balance of citrus hops and caramel malt with a tinge of alcohol. Pretty simple, straightforward nose. Hops became more prominent as the liquid warmed up a bit.
T - Slightly burnt caramel malt paired with a citrus hop profile and a hint of earthy bitterness. Some alcohol creeps into the mix, but only a scant amount. Finishes with a bready malt aspect. Simple but bold flavor overall.
M - Medium body with a pretty thick, beefy yet creamy texture. Moderate carbonation results in a mild prickly feel. Finish is actually quite aggressively bitter.
D - Classic amber ale but beefed up with more hops and more malts. Nothing amazing, but well-done and tasty overall. Happy anniversary, Dock Street!
