I believe the name has changed to the The Great Pumpkin ale. Anyway Pours a transparent copper with a decent bright white heading. Kind of turns flat looking after a few minutes and leaves no lacing.

Smell is more of the same of pumpkin beers. Heavy allspice with nutmeg and decent caramel malt backbone.

Taste is pretty much the same as the nose. Nice blend of allspice, nutmeg, and maybe a hint of ginger. There is a heavy linger of the pumpkin like spices but not before a nice bite of the green bitterness.

Mouth is light bodied. OK carbonation and a heavy spice linger that completely covers the palate.

All and all a decent pumpkin beer for the season. Nothing really to seek out. Maybe a beer of this would have been better as a growler just turns completely flat after you open it.

Had on tap at the SPTR Pumpkin Fest

Appearance: Color appears to be amber with a lot of orange coming through and little to no head.

Smell: Overwhelming smell of cinnamon and nutmeg not so much pumpkin.

Taste: This beer reminds me a lot of Weyerbacher Imperial Pumpkin Ale in terms of taste. Overall you get the taste of the spices and pumpkin is very light and only as an after taste.

Mouthfeel: Slight carbonation but it feels spicy/tangy which has to do obviously with the heavy amount of spices.

Drinkability: It's not a bad pumpkin ale at all but it's not anything special. Worth a try for sure, but there are plenty better.

On tap at The Institute as part of their "Pumpkin Patch" event...

Cloudy golden orange in color, creamy white head, good retention and lacing. Smell is of pumpkin pie, what is not there is the dominant profile of spices like so many others of the style have. The taste is of creamy pumpkin puree with mild hints of pumpkin pie spices (nutmeg, cinamon, clove). Medium, creamy body, slightly overcarbonated. Very good pumpkin brew that focuses on the pumpkin instead of the spices, if only it was a tad sweeter and fuller in flavor it would crack my upper echelon of fall beers.
