DATE: April 12, 2025... OCCASION: baseball and soccer cancellations aside, time to dig into a classic style from a brewery I haven't patronized in a long while... GLASSWARE: Jever pilsner... pours a picture-perfect golden yellow body with a fluffy, thick white head...its bubbles roil and stream with attractive activity... cirrus cloud lacing pervades the glass... aromatic, with Noble hops sparking lemon, apple, musky field, copper, spring flowers, and crisp malts evoking cracker... refreshing and alluring in its aroma, it encourages a sip with each breath... this exhibits a slightly textured, thinning body that allows for maximum sipping and minimal interruption... its finish is lasting, a stinging rush that lingers last past its departure... the copper, biscuit, flowers, and citrus fruits make for a medium-bodied, flavorful pilsner with enough variation on the theme to make for a pleasant, light ABV accompaniment...

Almost clear orange/amber appearance.
A sort of prickly carbonation which is a nice change from the norm. Body is about medium which all added up to a nice feel to this one.
Aroma is a nice mix of malt yeast, definitely white grape, earthy, with some mild bitter hops.
Taste doesn't stray too far from the aroma. A little dry with a mild bitter finish that lingers.
Overall an excellent beer from a brewery that I haven't tried in awhile but will look for more offerings based on this experience.

16oz can purchased from the fridge as a single for $3.75. No canned on date, but I think that this is relatively fresh.

Look: Pours a beautiful light golden color with a very soft haze and an off-white head that slowly dissipated. This has a "champagne of beers" look to it. Lots of very tiny bubbles rising up the glass, very pretty!

Smell: This smells really nice. I get white grape notes as well as earthy, green herbs like oregano and basil. Black pepper and honeydew melon also. The combination of kettle hopping and dry hopping has created a very pleasant, fresh, fruity, slightly tangy, and herbal nose. Nice crackery malt underneath the hop bouquet. Green bell pepper after swirling the glass.

Taste: This is very tasty and super drinkable. It is really flavorful for a 4.8% lager. Up front, it's light and spritzy with a thin body. The finish is very bitter and very dry. It's nice. It has like a rindy, earthy bitterness. I also eventually get the crisp, crackery malt notes after the hop bitterness subsides.

Feel: It's pretty light, yet very flavorful. In between light and medium bodied. Very crisp and clean.

Overall: This is my first Dock Street South review (I did recently review a collaboration beer between Neshaminy and Dock Street - a Smoked Porter). This is also just my second Italian Pilsner. I am digging this style. It's light, crisp, fresh, and flavorful. Very easy to drink and very enjoyable.

From the can/website:
Futuro - Alc. 4.8% by Vol. 60 IBUs. Italian Style Pilsner
A nod to Dock Street's founder, an Italian immigrant. A grist of German Pilsner malt is carefully decocted to develop a delicate malt base, onto which an assertive noble hop profile is built with frequent kettle additions of Hallertau Tradition, Hallertau Blanc, and Styrian Aurora. Dry hopped post fermentation with Blanc and Aurora, then lagered extensively. Dynamic flavor and aroma of herbal nobility, soft melon, and blooming wildflowers. Unfiltered and unpasteurized, served in the Keller-Style. At its simplest, it's a dry hopped czech style lager.

Excellent pilsner, well done for this brewer at Dock St. South. Clean clear look and taste with extra hopping appreciated. Really easy to drink and great with pizza!
