From the 16 oz can in a snifter with a BIG thanks to Bluejacket74! Cheers Dude!
This astounding rauchbier pours a nice brownish amber with a nice head of khaki foam
that subsides to a thick ring, thin dusty layer, and sports some nice lacing. Nose of
light smoke, light bread crust, and subtle sweet caramel malts. Flavors are beautifully
balanced with toasted malts, dark bread crust, mellow smoke, and caramel malts all
perfectly presented. Mouth feel is medium leaning towards medium light, smooth,
medium light carbonation that is perfect for the style, and a lightly smokey finish
that is subtly dry.
Overall, I am not a real fan of the style, but this is the best I have ever tried with
exceptional balance! I am honestly stunned!
Enter this in a world beer fest and beat the Germans at their own game!
Cheers

16 ounce can, 4-pack holder has a date of AUG 15 2024 so it's a pretty recent batch. Served in a dimpled mug, the beer pours a mostly clear orange/copper color with not quite an inch off-white head. Head retention and lacing are decent enough. Right away I can smell the smokiness in this brew, along with some toasted and caramel malt. As with the aroma, the smoked malt/smoked meat flavor stands out but there's also some bready, caramel and toasted malt flavors too. But the smokiness is the star of the show here! Mouthfeel/body is medium, it's smooth and a bit slick with a good amount of carbonation. Easy enough to drink, too. I liked this one a lot, always like a rauchbier with a lot of smokiness and I wasn't disappointed with this one at all!
