Copenhagen 26/8 2021. 44 cl can from Ølkassen web-shop. Brown can with a circular pattern of small round, white dots.
Pours opaque dark brown with a big, dark beige head. Stable. Settles as 4 cm thick layer of foam covering the surface of the beer. Moderate lacing.
Aroma is medium intense with a sweet slightly sugary, dark malty scent mingling with an earthy odor. Brown sugar, toffee, caramel. Hints of licorice. Scent of damp soil peeking in.
Light carbonation. Medium thick, oily, soft, smooth, lightly tingling texture.
Flavor is medium intense with a strong sweetness followed by a medium strong bitterness. Aftertaste is bitter with a sweet undertone. Lingers for a while. Finish is fairly dry.
Flavorful and not too sweet despite the fact that the word Sugar figures prominently in the name of the beer.

440ml can from Curious Liquids (£5):
Pouring quite thick, its very dark brown/mahogany coloured with a thumb-sized, dark tan head that's foamy, eventually settling as a thin surface lacing. The nose is mainly dark malts & brown sugars with some treacle, oak & faint smoke towards the end. The taste is quite sweet too with dark malts, sugars & a few background hops but less smoke flavours here. It's medium to full bodied, smooth & sweet throughout. It's balanced & easy to drink, most of the alcohol is hidden although it is very slightly warming at the end.
