16 oz can, dated about 5 months old
Jet black, tan head that eventually fades. Aroma of dark chocolate, a touch of roast, and some caramel. Similar taste, with a bit of dark fruit as well. Good balance, neither sweet nor dry. Full bodied, pretty mooth mouthfeel.

The contents of a pint can have escaped into a clear glass liter mug. The pour wasn't stormy at all. The light tan head on top is of ordinary size. The glass lacing is pretty. The color of the liquid is that darkest of brown characteristic of well made stouts. The aroma is just of roasted malts. So far, a no frills Imperial Stout. No need for additional flavors when a brew is this good. Rich roasted malt flavor, which brings a little sweetness with a supple and smooth body. Then the roasting works with the hops and maybe even the alcohol, to turn it toward bitter and dry. Other than boosting the flavor, the high ABV isn't noticeable. That’s what outstanding Imperial Stouts do and what this does.
