Classic Festbier. Crisp and dry, bitter and sweet, with notes of lightly roasted chestnuts, crackers, and apricot jam.

The brew is a shiny and bright, but lightly colored and nearly translucent golden amber. It poured a proper white head when a pint can was emptied into a clear glass liter mug. That head seems to be lasting. It has all the malt and mild hopping in its aroma that a festbier should bring. The taste is even sweeter than expected in somewhat like a sweet roll pastry way. If you don't like sweet beers, it's really not as bad as it sounds. The description on the label is fairly accurate. The sweetness is actually like that one gets from a cracker. Even the suggestion of chestnuts works, although the apricot jam aspect is a bit of a stretch. For its style, the beer is appreciably above average in body, so points must be added to the mouthfeel. Finally, there's as much hopping as necessary to turn the finish moderately bitter and dry enough for a crisp and clean finish. The six percent ABV, now a level considered lower mid-range in the craft beer world, is just perfect for what is being delivered here. Without much glass lacing, this just doesn't look, nor smell, for that matter, like much. But, this is one tasty beer, with several taste treats going on, that you will be grateful to get the opportunity to try.

Clear light gold with a crisp head, attractive. Light aroma of malt. Light crackery taste, muted sweetness and a solid bitter backend. Solid Festbier.
