Can picked up in WA convenience store. Pale golden body with frothy airy head. Aroma of wet paper, tastes like nothing much. Finish is non-existant. Overall weak and bland

A - Pours a yellowy gold beneath a finger of foamy fizzy white head. No lacing.

S - Some extremely light sweet notes of corn and grain.

T - Almost flavourless. The faintest grain and corn detected on the nose. No hop presence. Gratefully no coin taste.

M - Water thin, low carbonation. Like flat lemonade without the flavour.

O - Barely a beer at all. Nothing offensive here, just featureless.

I'm pleased to discover that I am the first to review Emu Draught Midstrength. Let's just hope it's better than the watery abomination that was Swan Mid.

Appearance - 3.5
Being poured from a can, which tends to chug, can sometimes make a head with big bubbles and rob the beer of some of its carbonation. The reverse is true here, two fingers of creamy, meringue-like white head sits atop a slightly brassy looking body of pale gold. Surprisingly good lacing, but the head inevitably collapses, looking a bit patchy.

Smell - 2.0
Nothing much to report here, slightly sweet, husk and sweetcorn in brine.

Taste - 2.0
Served cold there is not too much to complain about here. Quite crisp, a little grain and husk flavour, very little bitterness, a bit metallic.

Mouthfeel - 2.0
Low to moderate carbonation, very watery and thin, which is pretty much what you'd expect from the style.

Drinkability - 3.0
Certainly not a hard beer to drink, but offers nothing to interest anyone who likes their beers with flavour.

OVERALL - 2.4
An alternative to the equally dull Carlton Mid.
