Straight 4's.
For the price, this might be the best Australian stout that I've found. For 7.4% alcohol, this hides it remarkably well.
Black body, decent, but not outstanding head. Fairly creamy mouthfeel. Dry, chocolate malt taste and a nice aftertaste make this a darn good stout. If you can find it, try it. The trouble is that if you're outside of WA you might not run across it.

i have to say i was all but blown away by this effort from western australias swan brewery. their other beers being dismal at best, this is a mere notch below coopers stouts among the best in this country. i shouldnt have been surprised tho, as most aussie macros seem to be able to make a pretty fair stout.
looked like motor oil when i poured it. dark chocolate brown, with a persistant foamy tan head, that was just a little more viscous than most. generous dollops of fresh roasted coffee and chocolate aromas with just a bit pf hoppy kick in there. flavor was intensely mocha, with a bold but tasty wood fire smoke element that got my tastebuds fired up, and a very faint milky sweetness in there. dry, but not as dry as i would have expected, it did have a good, but not great finish. aftertaste nore than made up for it tho. pleasant warming jolt from the ABV, just at the right level.
alas its like hens teeth finding this beer in the eastern states, but every time i do manage to fall across it i never fail to get some going. could be close to the best macro brewed beer of any kind in australia.
