I visited YaYa a couple weeks back with a friend of mine while exploring the valley brewery scene. They've got a pretty sizable taproom, with lots of concrete and metal; an industrial vibe indeed, though with colorful paintings and a pinball machine and a few other nice accents.

When I was there, they had 13 beers on tap, including 7 IPAs (5 of which were hazies), but also an apricot kettle sour, two lagers, a cinnamon chocolate milk stout (on both CO2 and nitro), a blonde, and a pale. I had a flight, and among what I had Fluffy Puffy Sunshine hazy IPA was my favorite, and the american lager was a good example of the style. In general the other beers I had were just fair-to-middlin'.

Service at the bar was quick and friendly.

Off in a little semi industrial area, between train tracks and Interstate 90. This is in a corner of a short industrial strip mall building. It has a windowed, roll up door for part of one of the walls. A quite modern interior, taps and all. Some modern art on the walls. Their beer is not up to snuff. The favored one of the 4 tried, was the Unintended Consequences New England style IPA.

i was lucky enough to have a whole day to hit some breweries around spokane on my recent trip there, and after hearing some good things about these guys, i was stoked to be able to check them out. of all the places i hit, this was perhaps my favorite. the space is a little tricky to find, kind of back near where i remember 12 string being, but it took me a minute to zero in on. its worth the search. an open and bright space with lots of natural light, a somewhat unconventional layout to it, the bar kind of bisects the space with most of the seating on the right side, small and unique artsy looking tables, a modern urban sort of decor, some lounge sitting areas too, cool lighting, obvious attention to detail, way more evolved and refined feeling in here than the normal strip mall or industrial park taproom, i love the tap wall, and i love the chic vibe of the place, definitely has its own aesthetic. they had a pretty unique beer list too, not huge or anything, but some creative stuff on. i had a nice hoppy rye brew, kind of amber, but short of ipa range, tasty. i also had a coffee porter with some tasty local coffee in it, nice early in the day and working with a hangover. the rest of the list looked cool too, and i wished for more time to try them all. the bartender was fantastic, friendly and informative and she was spinning good tunes as well. i just posted up with my book and these tasty beers and could have made a day of it. a really fun place to check out, right off the highway if you know where it is, and worth seeking out. one of my favorites in the valley so far, ill be back here regularly. the beer was of a higher mind and quality than most in the area in my experience, very inspired!
