this place is rad, and for how new they are, the beers are very good. i like the ambitious recipes, and while this is not generally a style i run to, i was impressed with the execution. a simple sour beer, bright rose pink in color, done with raspberries and vanilla and lactose, but never really tasting all that desserty to me, bold on the fruit, subtle on the sugar, and understated in the right ways for being as flavorful as it is. it smells as tangy from the raspberries as it does from the lactic souring, the fruit is very natural in that way, which makes this for me. the vanilla is more in the aroma than the flavor, and catches the edges of the light malt profile to bring some depth to this. the souring is clean and very professionally done to me, and its not too acidic to drink a few of them if this is your speed. there is a very tidy and refined vibe to this that was unexpected for a brewery so new, and there is a nice back and forth between all the elements in the flavor, bright to finish. i almost never want lactose in my sours, but they did a good job with this. im sure this is just the beginning of a long line of creative fruited sours in this style, cant wait to see what they come up with next!
