very unique beer here, another couple of flavor elements i am skeptical of in beer, peanut butter and banana, but they somehow got it right on both of them in this, and honestly it was close to being my favorite of the three beers i drank in here. the base stout is excellent, and part of me wishes they had just stopped there, because its rich without being sweet, sturdy without being boozy, and complex without forcing it, deep roast to the grain, fermented clean and dry, round and smooth in feel, just really nice beer there, but nobody can leave a big stout well enough alone any more, so why not right? the banana element is more natural than expected, with less of a candied thing, a hard flavor to get in beer, but they got it, not sure what they use or how or when, but its about right. the peanut butter isnt sweet or greasy, and actually tastes like the peanut it self, little red skins and all, and with the banana and all the dark grain, there is a lovely likeness of a banana split sundae. big dark chocolate fudge and good coffee character rises up from the grain too, and this ends up drinking like a morning beer to me. the alcohol is so well hidden, the body is so full but the beer so drinkable somehow, wonderfully clean on the ferment, well crafted as a base, but peppered nicely with these challenging ingredients. i thought this would be novelty level, but its delicious and something i could do a couple of. really impressive, however they do it!
