16 oz can purchased at the source for $6. No freshness date. This beer is a slightly different animal each batch, with a different ABV and a different combination of fruits. According to the can, it is 5.4%, and while there is no information as to which version it is, it is definitely not version 4, the one that was added here.
Poured into a tall, 16 oz glass, this was a hazy shade of Amber, with a modest, off-white head.
The nose is of muted vanilla flavor, with just a little with citrus fruit.
Mildly citrusy up front, and then the vanilla sweetness kicks in, but stays a supporting player. The sourness consists of a mild tartness on the back end.
Medium bodied, with a slightly oily mouth feel.
This drinks a bit like a restrained Orange Julius (the milkshake / soft drink concoction once found in malls everywhere, not the beer of the same name). Easier drinking then something labeled as a sour IPA would seem. Although this is not something I'd be interested in sessioning all night long, it is quite pleasant to drink, and on a future visit to its point of origin, I would happily have one again.
