16oz tallboy can purchased about 6 weeks ago at the brewery. Having been diagnosed with diabetes around the same time, my beer consumption has slowed down enough that I'm not getting to it til now. No freshness date on the can.
Poured into a Precious Things Fermentation Project teku, this was a beautiful, clear, golden amber. Around 1 1/2 inches of bone-white foam was initially perched on top, and slowly descended down the sides of the glass.
Oddly herbal, grassy hop notes greeted the workers at my olfactory. Didn't smell like something hopped with Cascade, Simcoe and Columbus, as listed on the label.
Flavor is more IPA-ish than the nose indicates, but not exactly reminiscent of a WCIPA brewed with those hops. There's a bit of soft, melon-like sweetness amidst the more herbal hop flavors. Finishes softly dry.
Medium bodied, slightly resiny mouth feel.
This is fine for a one-off drinking experience, but it's definitely not what I'd expect for something marketed as a WCIPA, especially with that hop bill. I guess this is what happens when brewers who are openly not into WCIPAs brew one!
