Looks can be deceiving! This black kolsch is light, crisp, and crushable. Brewed as a traditional kolsch with additions of carafa malt for coloring.

16oz can into a tall glass. Canned 4/19/24, so 5 weeks old.
A PA black kolsch, so black in body. Small off white head fizzles away, no lacing. Aroma is of mildly roasted malt, this is stronger in the taste. Light to medium body, very easy drinking.
Overall, hard to think of this as a kolsch given the level of roast. Still, a nice enough drink, wonder if any German brewers have brewed this sub style?
