My best friend Jon Passow brought a bomber of this back to Cleveland from when he visited the brewery about 3 months ago on his way back to Cleveland from California. Poured into a tulip glass, this beer pours a slightly cloud/hazy deep, dark red color with some bright highlights when held up to the light. Has a white head that's about an inch thick when first poured that eventually settles to a thick white ring lining the inside of the glass with some small spots of surface foam. Not much lacing here though. Aromas of some toasted, bready malts and big tart raspberry. Also a bit of yeast. Not much else for my nose, but that;s okay. The flavor is pretty much the same, with some toasted, bready malts, big raspberry tartness and also sweetness, just a hint of brown sugar and molasses too, and some yeasty funk notes to round this out. Has a crisp, slightly prickly, medium bodied mouthfeel with moderate carbonation. All the aforementioned flavors sit nicely on my palate and really coat the inside of my mouth for a great, lingering aftertaste. A very nice beer that I am glad I got the chance to try.
