12 oz can acclimated to 42°F and poured into a stange glass.
Pours clear a color about 75% gold, 25% rose gold with a 3 finger, foamy, white head, dissipating somewhat slowly and leaving no lacing.
Initial aroma is quite tart, with noticeable salt, smells like sea air. Strong notes of red tart fruit, specifically like cranberry, but also a general fruitiness.
After agitating, I'm met with intensified tartness, and almost a yogurt bacteria funk.
Initial taste before swallowing is a powerfully puckering tartness, with that same red fruitiness. Intense.
After swallowing, I'm met first with a strong puckering tartness again, followed bitterness like the pith inside a cranberry, which lasts into the finish, tartness and salt almost hurting the roof of the mouth. It's similar to grapefruit, in that it tastes similar and has that same pith bitterness. Cranberry/red fruit is present the entire process. Getting further in, the roof of my mouth is actually now slightly pained.
Feel is decent, it's got plenty of body but feels similar to juice. Medium sized bubbles contribute a little feel very similar to what is already present.
Overall, like I said, it does what's promised very very well. I'm not huge on tart fruit, but it's at a very nicely balanced level here. Additionally, this type of fruit tart sour is not what i really love, as I have sensitive enamel, but that doesn't affect my scoring as it does exactly what it promises very well.
Not something I'll buy again, but I'm happy to have tried a beer with elderberry.
