I stopped by Magnuson Brewery the other day for a quick beer or two after work. I have been there a few times before, but never got around to writing a review here!
The taproom/restaurant is in an old storage/maintenance building in Magnuson park, from the days when it was a military base: lots of brick and exposed ductwork and such. All the brew equipment is out in the open, which I always like, and that adds a bit to the industrial flavor of the place. It's mostly a restaurant, with only a couple spots at the bar, but there's an enormous and beautiful patio area overlooking the lake that's just outstanding. I think your opinion of the place is gonna depend on whether you sit outside and whether it's summer, because the patio really is the thing here.
On my visit, there were 8 beers on tap plus two guest ciders. Styles included three IPAs, a pilsner, a pale, a hefeweizen, oatmeal stout, and peanut butter stout. The IPA and pilsner I had on this occasion were not bad, but nothing to write home about; this largely comports with my previous experiences here.
The service is efficient, although they don't serve you at the bar -- you have to walk up to the front and order.
