Tasted in a restaurant in Passau. Served in the tall wheat beer glass, half litre size with the Lowenbrauereri Passau logo.
An impressive glassful of cloudy brown beer, touch of foam on top. Richly flavored and yeasty without being heavy bodied. Thick mouth feel with modest carbonation. Very aromatic esters in the nose. Some raw grain mixed with the elegant fruity flavors. Makes for a pleasant gulp with the complexity, and the somewhat watery finish is refreshing. One glass was enough. I found I liked the pleasing sharpness of the Helles after half a glass of Dunkel.
