Beer pours a clear golden color with a small head and with carbonation. Aroma is malt and yeast. Taste is excellent. A little bitterness & sweet malt. Clean and mellow mouthfeel. Nothing like a good German beer. BB 2025-7-5 Established 1268

A solid German helles...
This one is pretty much to style - though I really liked it's clearness, really liked the crisp mouthfeel, and I really liked the malty flavor. Smell was pretty much non-existent. Overall, very solid...

Poured from an aluminum can, stored in a refrigerator at 38 degrees. The ale/beer was poured into an insulated pint glass. The beer was allowed to warm a bit before tasting it.
Look – Exhibited golden color when poured. It looks a bit hazy to clear. A modest head.
Smell – Malty? – sweet, roasty, nutty, caramel? Hops? Spicy, grassy, leafy, citrusy, grapefruity, Alcohol: spicy, peppery, boozy, Yeast? Ale – fruity/flowery, spicy and peppery phenols, Lagers, clean with the malt and hop subtleties to come through
Taste – Good flavored beer consistent with its description. A nice balance dominated by
Feel – The beer was light to the taste. A bit watery. Not particularly carbonated
Overall – I enjoyed the beer and plan to buy again. The beer fit the occasion and was enjoyed when shared with others.

Crystal clear yellow-gold with a big three finger white head. The creamy dense foam is stark white and settled to a thin cap only after ten minutes or so. The nose is mostly spicy Noble hop aroma with hints of bread grain underneath. Nice malt beginnings, mildly sweet honey and bread grain flavors are joined by spicy hops which dry it out for a moderately bitter finish. Medium-weight and well carbonated it has a crisp over frothy mouthfeel which makes as refreshing as it is flavorful. A well built, enjoyable drinker in my opinion. It certainly doesn’t show that it’s eleven months old.

Name: Urhell
Brewery: Brauerei Aldersbacher
Location: Aldersbach, Germany
Style: Helles
A.B.V.: 5.1%

My continuation of the twelve pack has led me here, another Helles. I used my old Michelob glass for this review and served the beer at 42 degrees. The pour resulted in a frothy, airy, two-fingered, white head with average retention, leaving no lacing on the glass. The beer's color is light straw with a pale golden yellow charting at SRM4 and is translucent. The appearance of the beer is average for this style.
Nosing the glass, I smell floral blossoms, light white pepper, soft toasted malts, crackers, and honey-like sweetness. The aromas are more intense compared to the last Helles. The floral and white pepper come out more. A subtle phenolic clove and band-aid note lingers in the background.
The flavors have notes of spicy floral, white pepper, and light herbal. The malt profile has more character, too, with notes of biscuits, crackers, and lightly toasted bread. A slight mineral, lemons, yeasty, and phenol(cloves) finish on the end of the flavors.
The body is light and has high carbonation. The mouthfeel is smooth and finishes dry.
The lagering process in this beer is less clean and crisp than in the last Helles. The flavors are more prominent, and I am not sure I am a fan of the Helles being that way. The only issue is that the brewery canned it in January, and it is October; I can only fix it if I hop on a plane to Germany.

Poured into my stout mug. One of those German-brewed beers with an 18 month best by: canned 3-31-23, best by 9-30-24. Caveat emptor.
L -- Clear gold with a firm, long-lasting white head and good lacing
S -- Light herbal hops and doughy malt.
T -- Sweetish, but somewhat oxidized malt character up front. Herbal hops on the mid-palate and finish. Light herbal bitterness in the aftertaste.
F -- Mouthfeel is lightly crisp and dry with a light body.
O -- Not a bad light lager, maybe somewhat long in the tooth and not as big in the melanoidin malt I expect from the style, but very drinkable and refreshing.
