Poured from a growler into a Seattle Beer Week pint glass. Pours a medium coppery amber with a three finger slightly off-white head with great retention and solid lacing. Aroma of biscuit malt, citrus and piney hops, lemon, grapefruit, pine and a little toffee. Flavor is dry caramel and biscuit malt, citrus and piney hops, grapefruit, lemon and pine needles; lemon zest and somewhat resinous pine lingering in the finish with nice bitterness. Medium bodied with light to moderate creaminess. A somewhat old fashioned, malty IPA with a fine lemony and piney profile to the hops. Not too complex, but the flavors are winning. The herbal hop notes are somewhat subdued, but the base fruit and pine notes are assertive and lingering. Great finish and a welcome West Coast IPA profile. I enjoyed this one.
