A big thanks to Jeff for this one.
750ml capped bottle into a Brooklyn Brewery snifter.
Pours dense and dark. Dark mocha colored head that dissipates quickly. Nose is espresso, lactose, cinnamon, cocoa powder, and chocolate. Super rich with big coffee overtones. Beer opens dark fruit. Prunes, sweet soy sauce, and raisin. Cocoa powder, dark chocolate, iced coffee, and a tart, burnt espresso in the middle. Lactose and more coarse chocolate towards the end mixed with molasses, tobacco, oak, and maple syrup at the finish. Espresso and chocolate in the aftertaste. Deliciously complex. Body is full with moderate to low carbonation. Smooth, slick, and rich on the palate and goes down warm with a zing of booze at the end. Sticky, lingering finish. Big and bold.
This one's pretty impressive. A really big, bold, and over-the-top coffee based imperial stout.
