Appearance: Pours a nearly completely clear, deep golden color with a massive head that lingers. SRM of 9. (4.25)
Aroma: Strong aromas pale bread malts, honey, grass with some floral malts. (3.75)
Flavor: Strong flavors of pale malts, honey, bread malts with a floral yeast. Bready, floral, and mildly sweet. Also moderately bitter. (4.25)
Feel: Medium to heavier bodied. Strong carbonation to match. Bittersweet lingers. (4.25)
Overall: Very nice beer here labeled as a double German Pils. Was skeptical that it might be too sweet. Didn't know what to expect and sort of expected something like a Maibock. Yet, pours like a Pils, smells like a Pils, tastes like a pils, but slightly sweeter than usual. Still has amped up German hops, malts, and bitterness. Never had a beer quite like this. Hoppier, breadier and more bitter than a Maibock.Nice bready, yeasty flavors with a touch of honey. Not too sweet and drinks very complex and flavorful. Surprisingly good.
