Canned 7/11/24 (5 weeks ago)
Appearance: Pours a completely hazy (5% clarity) medium pale, but bright golden-yellow color that layers with a large white head. SRM of 6-7. (4.00)
Aroma: Strong aromas of passionfruit and pineapple upfront. Evolves into some more sweet citrusy and vinous notes. Finiesh with more passionfruit and pineapple.(4.00)
Flavor: Strong flavors of orange and lemon citrus upfront. Then more passionfruit and pineapple. Finishes citrusy, juicy, and somewhat sweet. (4.25)
Feel: Medium to heavier bodied, lower than expected carbonation. Citrusy, juicy, sweetness linger, somewhat flat. (3.75)
Compared to BlackStack Wedding Season 8/24: Pours lighter. Similar aromas. More pineapple, passionfruit. Less orange and fruit punch. Drier.
Compared to BlackStack Double 755 8/24: Pours darker, milder aromas. More passionfruit and pineapple. Less tropical orange, mango, melon. Drier.
Overall: Another great Minnesota brewery, Falling Knife. They make just about everything from lagers, ales, to NEIPAs. I have to admit I've thought their IPA game has been good, but not excellent. Decided to give this a chance. Citra and Galaxy here. The The galaxy comes through with tons of passionfruit and pineapple. flavors. It's juicy and citrusy, slightly flat and undercarbonated. Drinks fairly clean. I'm not a fan of galaxy, but the flavors here are superb without being too sweet. This is better than I expected and an excellent DIPA from Falling Knife. (Rating: 4.13)
