Drunk fresh at the source in beautiful Regensburg in September 2023.

L: Rusty copper brown with a fluffy, white head. The slightest carbonation is visible through the dark-hued beer.

S: Tangy and smooth malt with a touch of toffee, vanilla and red fruits.

T: This is a malt-forward IPA where the hops take a back seat. The red fruit character from the nose is clear on the palate. If I didn't know better, I'd say this was a red ale rather than an IPA. Finished long and sweet.

M: Smooth and full, minimal carbonic prickle.

O: It's an enjoyable IPA, but it's battling manfully in a market dominated by delicious lagers, which means it's dialled back from the usual hop-driven bitterness of a modern IPA.

Cheers!
