#1820 - Blind-tasted except for the beer's name, ABV% and brewery/country...
L- Jet black, even held up in front of a halogen bulb. 3mm dark tan head that's waning fast but that's expected considering the ABV%.
S- Roasty-toasty, no overt aspects like smoke or coffee etc for me.
T- Quite rich it has a fruity/liquorish note too, unclear what that might be. Occasionally the latter reminds me of Coke, but with a liquor'ish edge.
F- Has that slightly syrupy feel that presumably comes from carbs (sugars) in such a high ABV% and rich beer.
O- I'm glad I started this well chilled, as as it warms it will likely morph from rich towards outright sweet. It's a bit punchy but the richsweet is making too much of a statement of itself. It's lactose isn't it? Too sweet, blunt-instrument and all a bit unrefined and in yer face...
Review/scoring all done, now the reveal, I get to read the lables to see what I missed! Aged in Pomerol barrels (explains the fruity edge). Contains the 3 grains. Not for me, overcomplex and hence confused/Not one I'd wish to drink again.
440ml can BB: 20/01/2022 £8.45 Bought from TremblingMadness, York/UK as part of a large pick-your own consignment to London.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
