State 48 Brewery DTPHX

Planted firmly in the downtown hotel area, this brewery reflect it with being quite polished. However the mural artwork inside is really awesome, there are a ton of beers on tap and the staff was awesome, super helpful and friendly. The quality of the beer was meh, but nothing was offensive. Don't know if you need to seek it out, but if in the area, why not?

Good spot for food and beer. This place feels more upscale than it actually is, kind of an odd vibe where it can't decide if it's a restaurant or a taproom.

Regardless, both beer and food were up to snuff and the service was very good. Definitely a good pick to grab dinner if you don't want full on brewery vibes to go with your food.

My wife and I visited the downtown State 48 location while in Phoenix earlier this week.

Over 30 beers on tap, brewed across a number of their locations. This location has a pretty large brew house but they brew at multiple facilities to support their huge taplist. I had a number of different beers but Over/Under DDH DIPA was a standout, as were the blackberry sour and the Belgian tripel. The barrel aged Belgian quad is also quite good, and the German Pilsner is meticulously executed. Overall I really like the quality and breadth of their selection.

Taproom is industrial chic with a big mural, exposed ceiling and brewhouse visible to the taproom. The space is big and airy but welcoming. We sat up at the bar and service was great. State 48 is definitely worth a stop if you’re exploring the Phoenix beer scene.
