Birra del Moro S.a.s. “Mirum”
33cl. Brown glas bottle, “Da consumarsi entro il/numero di lotto: 04 21 CG”
€3,33 from the brewery
Notes via stream of consciousness: This is a special beer that’s one of two not currently in their everyday line-up. It’s a very hazy deep amber/copper in color beneath a full head of fluffy off-white foam that settles down to an inch or so of cream. It’s spicy in the nose with a woody note of coriander backed by bready malt. The flavor offers a stronger maltiness that’s biscuity as well, but it’s also a little acidic. Notes of lemon and pink and white peppercorn swirl throughout. A median bitterness of about 25 IBUs balances it and it finishes dry with some residual citrus and a dusting of spiciness left lingering. The head has held remarkably well, and it’s left good lacing so far. This may be the most carbonated Italian craft brew I’ve had to date, and it’s without question the strongest I’ve had from Birra del Moro leaving it medium bodied and crisply effervescent. I’m pleasantly surprised at how well balanced the malt, citrus, and spice are; and how they meld together but still remain quite clear on their own. Nicely done!
