Opificio Birrario s.s. “Demetra”
,33l brown glass bottle, “Da consumarsi preferibilimente entro: 10/20 Lotto 101019”
€3,50 at the brewery on 30 November 2019
Notes via stream of consciousness: This is an interesting beer in that it’s entirely produced from malts and hops grown on their own farm in Tuscany. It’s not filtered and refermented in the bottle for a natural carbonation. It’s hazy deep golden/orange body is capped by a short lid of off-white foam. The head retention and lacing could be better, but at least it’s better than average. The aroma is fairly bright with notes of sweetish malt, flowers (mainly lilies), minerals (crushed granite), and delicate citrus and orchard fruits. The flavor follows, equally rich and bright, with all of the same features but more apple and peach than citrus fruits. A stiff bitterness balances it and it finishes mostly dry with some honey-like malt, some floral character, and a light dusting of dried earth and minerals lingering. In the mouth it’s medium bodied, supple, and smooth with a very fine-bubbled moderate carbonation. That explains the lack of head retention, and its probably a fair trade-off to gain the superior mouthfeel. Perhaps I’ve just got a very fresh batch (it seems a month old) but it’s got a lovely, very lively aroma and flavor to it. Fantastico!

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
